A Charming Tybee Wedding

Tonya and Rory were wed one week ago on a typically gorgeous Spring day down here on Tybee Island. A couple so in love with each other, details created with specificity and care, and a gorgeous setting to boot – just what the doctor ordered! A huge and special thanks to our good friend and partner, Alicja Colon. Several of the photos below are hers, several are ours – but all are reflections of two beautiful people and the first day of their life as husband and wife….here’s to you guys, Tonya and Rory!

A most lovely and glorious home for a wedding, thanks to the staff at The Harper Fowlkes House.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful florals were provided by A to Zinnias.

The wonderfully coordinated and delicious meal was created by Paul Kennedy Catering.

The absolutely intricate wedding cake was created by Two Cakes. Truly artful. We were impressed!

Hair and Makeup stayed stunning all day. We can thank B Street Salon for that.

The divine ceremonial music was provided by Dominique Geer.

Keeping us dry and enabling a lovely reception was a tent provided by Classic Party Rentals.

Erin and Justin’s serene ceremony was officiated by Reverend Joe, the Savannah Wedding Minister.

Hopping reception entertainment was provided by Moon River Productions.

Bar tending was efficiently handled by Johnnie Ganem.

The much needed transportation was provided by Historic Tours of Savannah.

Kara’s Shivery Yet Summery Senior Session – Savannah High School Senior Portraits

When asked about what she wanted to remember from her high school senior year, Kara answered: “I want to remember how happy and determined I was in high school. How I was (am) so excited about my life, and my passion for giving to others and “paying it forward.” This answer became an inspiration for her high school senior portrait session that we photographed yesterday. We really tried to make sure we incorporated quite a bit of light into these photographs to represent Kara’s “paying it forward” principle, because by doing so, she does bring the light into the world she is a part of. Her entire presence radiates kindness. Kara, thank you for letting us become a part of your high school senior experience!

Autumn in Georgia (North Georgia, that is)

As many of you know, Savannah and much of South Georgia is Autumn-Challenged. That’s the politically correct way of saying – “We don’t see much foliage color change!” But Veta and I were blessed this year to be invited by our wonderful family, the Buckhalters, to come and enjoy a weekend with them at their lovely cabin just outside of Mineral Bluff, GA. We jumped at the chance, braving rush hour Atlanta traffic to get there. But the hustle and bustle of Atlanta seemed light-years away once we got into the mountains. We made it just in the heart of apple season – which was a treat for us both. Enjoy these colors from our trip:

A Savannah Wedding With New England Soul – Alissa & Matt

Sometimes you feel an celebration. Sometimes you feel it for a few days. Sometimes you know that you’ll be feeling it for a while – and that’s how Alissa and Matt’s wedding will be. Our goal this go around was to really allow Alissa and Matt (and their fantastic friends and families) to relive their wedding day through these photographs. Of course you’re welcome to come along for the journey back through Saturday as well. After all, we’re much better photographers than we are writers.

In the end, we hope not to be known as people photographers. Merely to be known as photographers. We hope you enjoy a sampling of our outing last weekend to the lovely Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia. The leaves were indescribably beautiful and a post on that will follow. But for starters, let us take you to a place of serenity. A place found along the foggy banks of the lovely Tocoa River on a chilly, autumn morning. There’s always an exciting possibility each time we photograph a wedding that we might have the chance one day to photograph the husband and wife as a family, one day. For Alisha and Will, that day came Sunday. We’ve loved the two of them for quite a while now. And they’ve gone and added a little bundle of joy to the mix That little heartbreaker’s name is Evelyn and she’s quite the sweetie-pie. We hope you enjoy these photos that we captured on Evelyn’s three month birthday. (Couldn’t help myself on the last one, guys. I take full responsibility! – J)

Jekyll Driftwood and a Free-Spirited Wedding

When blogging about Nicole and Robert’s wedding, the thoughts of the driftwood and the weather beaten trees that lined the coast keep running through my mind. The trees especially. I suppose my prayer is that the couples we photograph may create marriages that mimic these trees, at least figuratively. Nicole and Robert have been together now for a few years and know they’re ready for the winds to come. They’re kindred spirits and while we’ve only just begun to know them, we can see that they are best together.

Their wedding was this past weekend and it was a beauty. There was absolutely no fault in the weather and the wedding setting was divine. In true Nicole and Robert fashion, the ceremony was leisurely and calming. An intimate portrait session followed their ceremony and we proceeded to a delectable brunch reception at a lovely little island home. Surrounded by family and the closest of friends, Nicole and Robert began their married life together. Enjoy these few teasers from Nicole and Robert’s September day.
