Alana’s 6 Month Portrait Session

Being a Baby is a funny predicament to be in. On one hand, you dictate everything Mommy and Daddy do with your cries and other bodily functions. On the other hand, you have no say in where you’re taken and what “funny” garments and accessories that are placed on your body. It’s sort of like being a slave and a Queen all rolled into one.
It’s no different for Alana. As patient of a little girl as she is, she’s still NOT ok with having portraits done at meal time. Nor is she ok with sitting in the kid-carrier for longer than she deems necessary. She feels pretty strongly about having clean “drawers” as well as taking strategically scheduled naps. Now that we’ve mentioned the things she is opposed to, here are some things that tickle her fancy:
Easter Clothes. Nothing makes Alana more glad than to drool all over her new Easter Dress. The dress is pretty nice by itself, but with a little mouth glaze, it’s all the better :) Did I mention how fun it is to watch Mommy scramble for the anti-drool rag?
Shades in the Springtime are also one of her favorite accessories. I’m not sure if the affinity comes from the UV blocking power of these sunglasses or if it’s just the fact that she now has the motor skills to take them off and insert them into her mouth. We’ll ask her once her jabber turns into words.

As you can see from her toothless grin (but she’s working on the toothless part), Pat-A-Cake (a.k.a. Patty-Cake) is one of her favorite games. Due to the difficulties associated with walking, Ring-Around-The-Roses and Red Rover haven’t even made the list yet. So for now, this is about it…..

However, speaking of walking…… Pretending to stand and walk is also pretty cool. Soon she’ll be pulling up and raking fragile items off of small tables. But for now, she needs a little help from her folks, in the standing department.

Playing with Daddy is also a huge attraction. He’s like a miniature amusement park and he knows so many fun games that really apply the G-Forces. When your less than 20 pounds, it’s not too difficult to pretend to be an airplane soaring 6 or 7 feet from the ground. Alana’s favorite part about air travel, however, is the kissy kissy time she gets afterwards.

In addition to Easter Dresses, kid’s clothes in general are also on Alana’s list of favorites. Because she is pretty much a perpetual drool and poopie machine, several changes of clothes are a necessity. And some of the clothes are bound to be classy. Check out the embroidery on these britches…

We’re also quite confident that getting her picture taken with her Mommy and Daddy is also one of Alana’s favorite pastimes. Based on her lack of fit-pitching, her Aunt Veta and Uncle Jason are certain that she likes to be the ham in front of the lens. Getting some lap-time in with Daddy isn’t so bad either.

After a little whining, it’s always nice to get in some Mommy time. Mommy is the absolute best at holding, hugging, and baby talk, too. Daddy’s great at playing and kissy kissy, but this is tender time. This and the whole milk thing is pretty much what Mommies are made for.

Don’t forget to comment and let Alana’s Mommy and Daddy know what you think. Hope you’ve enjoyed these photos.
