It’s with great pleasure that I’m writing this afternoon. We just came home from Southwest Georgia, where we attended our first “annual” Silvers Family Reunion. We’ve had family reunions before, but never one that was scheduled to be the first of annual reunions. I suppose it’s the idea that we will continue this tradition that makes me happy. I suppose I’m also happy to be writing one of (if not “the”) first blog posting that’s not filled with business or art related photography. These are just snapshots of all of our immediate and extended family. You’ll notice that we shot a lot of the kids, but you’d just have to have been there to see why. They had a blast together. I think that the adults had a good time too. It’s really something special for families to come together, eat, and share with each other. In these tempestuous times, one thing that remains constant is our love for each other.
Why black and white images? Two reasons -
1. Black and White allows us to focus on the people and the emotions captured in the photographs without being distracted by vivid and contrasting colors.
2. I always wanted to post just black and white photos![]()
Enjoy these images and please comment for all of our families to enjoy.
Here’s the brother and sisters that were born as the Silvers kids. James, Susan, Grace, and Mary:

Here’s a wide angle shot of the Putney Community Center that was rented for our reunion, followed by some random shots from the day:

With some assistance from Lynn, Ronnie really stepped up and got the photo taking off to a start. Thanks for the inspiration, Ronnie and Lynn.

Here’s my Uncle Glenn and my Dad. Can you believe these two spilled a whole bucket of minnows on me when I went fishing with them one night? They look so mature and responsible now, but I suppose it was not always the case![]()

The only downside to black and white photography manifests itself in the following photo of Ansley. What you can’t see is that whatever was in that jug was mighty red and appeared to be sweet. That combination is certain the try the patience of any thirsty girl!

Nothing much better than snuggling up with your Grandma!

We had to sneak up on Uncle James to capture his true colors (or blacks and whites). He makes an attempt to be stoic in most photographs. But we know him better than that. We love you, Uncle James!

Seeing and touching the newest baby in the family, Alana, was a popular attraction for all the children. We’ve got several good shots of the loving attention that they showered her with. We could all learn a lot from kids.

KFC isn’t the only food that’s “finger lickin’ good”. Cupcakes are right there as well.

You can still see the goose-egg on JJ’s forehead where he already had flipped over. But like any great rider, he’s dusted off and back on his bike.

Grandaddy’s lap is about the best spot in the whole wide world!

See you guys again next year.
