Starting with the clothing…

A great portrait defines your particular stage in life, but it cannot possibly be brought to life without great clothing choices. By starting with your closet, you must analyze it to determine what kind of style it contains. Clothing that contains bold patterns must be put against plain backgrounds that would bring your entire self out in the open. Conversely, if you want to be a part of an exciting background, how else can your face stand out if your clothing competes with a background?  Why have white/black shirts and jeans hit it off in the portrait sessions (even though they are extremely overdone)? Maybe, for a sheer reason of being able to co-exist with any backdrop that can come about during a photoshoot (especially on location) while letting your face be the focal point of the portrait.

So, the clothing series of the Photo Session Ready begins with pointing your view to the clothing you select for a photo session. To get your creative juices flowing, check out “The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style” and the “Dress Your Best” by the hosts of TLC’s What Not to Wear. Both books can be purchased from Amazon or any local bookstore. If you don’t want to book, just tune in for the TLC’s show and get some ideas!

P.S. Found this awesome website, especially for the high school graduates (girls!)
