A Savannah Wedding With New England Soul – Alissa & Matt

Sometimes you feel an celebration.  Sometimes you feel it for a few days.  Sometimes you know that you’ll be feeling it for a while – and that’s how Alissa and Matt’s wedding will be.  Our goal this go around was to really allow Alissa and Matt (and their fantastic friends and families) to relive their wedding day through these photographs.  Of course you’re welcome to come along for the journey back through Saturday as well.  After all, we’re much better photographers than we are writers.

Jekyll Driftwood and a Free-Spirited Wedding

When blogging about Nicole and Robert’s wedding, the thoughts of the driftwood and the weather beaten trees that lined the coast keep running through my mind.  The trees especially.  I suppose my prayer is that the couples we photograph may create marriages that mimic these trees, at least figuratively.  Nicole and Robert have been together now for a few years and know they’re ready for the winds to come.  They’re kindred spirits and while we’ve only just begun to know them, we can see that they are best together.

Their wedding was this past weekend and it was a beauty.  There was absolutely no fault in the weather and the wedding setting was divine.  In true Nicole and Robert fashion, the ceremony was leisurely and calming.  An intimate portrait session followed their ceremony and we proceeded to a delectable brunch reception at a lovely little island home.  Surrounded by family and the closest of friends, Nicole and Robert began their married life together.  Enjoy these few teasers from Nicole and Robert’s September day.

Be sure to leave comments wishing Nicole and Robert the very best.  Thanks for enjoying this post.

A Midsummer Night’s Celebration

To quote the French poet, Andre Breton, “All my life, my heart has yearned for a thing I cannot name.”

Meredith and David are in love and I can tell you that love like theirs gives us purpose in our work. We were blessed with the opportunity to photograph their wedding reception yesterday evening. And what a warm and intimate celebration it was! With friends and family there, Meredith and David celebrated into the night. Here are a few portraits and details from their reception. We hope you’ll enjoy looking into these photographs as much as we enjoyed creating them…

The Weather Reflects Alissa and Matt’s Engagement

By that, I mean Alissa and Matt’s Engagement is HOT!  But the temperature only neared 100 degrees here in Savannah these last couple of days.  Alissa and Matt’s relationship might touch a bit higher if we could have measured it.

If I told you we’ve not been looking forward to this for a while, I’d be a liar.  We met Alissa and Matt several months ago and knew we’d be right for each other immediately.  After tentatively scheduling an engagement session in June, we firmed up Thursday and Friday of this week as THE days that we’d make it happen.  We knew it would be hot, but some things are undoubtedly worth braving the heat.  Alissa and Matt are from New Hampshire and they’ve actually been seeing some mildly chilly weather over the last several days.  Maybe not fir coat worthy, but starkly different than here…..I can’t believe I’m typing about the weather right now….

When we first met, Alissa and Matt openly shared a lot about themselves.  Here are some things that stuck with us:  They BOTH like beer!  (Just photographing a gal that chooses a sweetwater over a chardonnay just tells you that we’re gonna have to mix it up a little on this one.)  They may have slightly different tastes, mind you, but the enjoyment of sipping and sampling different beers is something that they share together.    But for the Southerners reading this, these two are so calm, so mild, so polite, and so caring – they just break any and all beer drinker stereotypes:) NEXT, They got engaged at Fenway Park.  Why?  Cause they’re the biggest Red Sox fans ever – that’s why!  Matt knew what to do when he met a beautiful girl who loves beer and baseball!  He proposed.  LAST, and our personal favorite – they absolutely LOVE Savannah.  How much?  So much that they’re coming all the way down here to get married.  Now there’s a lot more to know about these two, but you’ll just have to ascertain as much more as you can from the teasers in this post.

ON TO PHOTOGRAPHY!  With all the things from the prior paragraph on our mind, we really wanted to make this session different from any others that we’ve shot.  So we put all of our heads together and did some planning, some brainstorming, some more planning, some more….well, you get the point.  And by the time the sun was approaching the horizon on Thursday, the four of us set out to accomplish what we’d come up with.  I hope you enjoy these teasers from the last two days.  The photos are not necessarily posted in the order they were taken, but I think they’ll make sense.  Just ask Alissa and Matt how the days really went!  I know they’d love to share.
